When B2P Connect lead Kate Hornby asked the foodbank what would make a real difference to the people they support, the team went back to their community for answers. One item came up: eggs. Nutritious, versatile, and familiar, they’re a staple that many households rely on, yet they’re also difficult for the foodbank to provide consistently.
Supplying eggs for around 60 households each month would cost roughly £600 for the year. A modest figure, but still beyond the foodbank’s existing budget.
At the same time, Galliford Try were working on a project in the Elland and Brighouse area and were keen to contribute something meaningful locally. Through B2P Connect’s work identifying opportunities for businesses to support community needs, the foodbank’s request was shared with them, and they stepped forward to fund the entire year.
The foodbank has since arranged a contract to ensure eggs can be provided regularly throughout the year. For the households relying on their support, this means a reliable addition of a high‑protein staple that can be used in everyday meals. A small item, but one that brings both nutritional value and a sense of normality to weekly food parcels.

Elland Foodbank expressed its appreciation, saying:
“We’re so grateful for this generous donation, which is funding a full year’s worth of eggs each month, an important source of protein for the people we support. It might seem simple, but it will make a real difference to many families in our community. Thank you to Galliford Try for helping us continue to provide good, nutritious food with dignity.”
B2P Connect is a free service that brings charities and businesses together in practical, purposeful ways, from volunteering and skills sharing to direct support like this donation. In this case, a straightforward connection turned a business’s willingness to help into tangible, ongoing support for a local charity.
Reflecting on the impact of these partnerships, Kate Hornby said:
“It’s always powerful to see what happens when the right people are simply brought together. Businesses often want to help, and charities know exactly what they need. Sometimes it just takes that introduction and the connecting person to make it happen.”
For everyone involved, the project is a reminder that meaningful community support doesn’t always come from large or complex initiatives. Sometimes it begins with a conversation, a clear need, and the right people being connected at the right moment.
