Help Us Hear From Local People – Pride in Place Community Engagement

As part of the Pride in Place programme for Mixenden and Illingworth, the Neighbourhood Board are launching a programme of community engagement to help shape the Neighbourhood Plan and future investment priorities for the area.

Between July and August, the Neighbourhood Board want to hear from as many local people as possible about:

  • What they value about the area
  • What they would like to see improved
  • What already works well
  • What they hope the future of the area looks like

They know that local organisations, groups and schools have trusted relationships with residents and service users that can help us reach people whose voices may not otherwise be heard.

They would therefore like to invite you to support this engagement activity.

Attached is the Pride in Place Engagement Toolkit, which includes:

  • Simple guidance on how to facilitate conversations
  • Core questions and engagement activities
  • Templates for recording and submitting feedback
  • Guidance on privacy, consent and safeguarding

The toolkit is designed to be flexible. You can use it within existing meetings, activities, sessions and events, and you do not need any previous engagement experience. They would love your support in helping them hear from local people and ensure community voices are at the heart of Pride in Place.

All feedback you collect will contribute to a shared evidence base that will help the Neighbourhood Board understand local priorities and develop the Neighbourhood Plan.

Community Listening Incentive Scheme

To support community-led engagement, participating organisations may be eligible for a £50 cash payment for each completed engagement activity that meets the agreed requirements and is supported by a completed Engagement Capture Template. Further information about eligibility is included in the Toolkit.

Support Available

Participating organisations will also receive:

  • Access to a short online briefing session
  • Ongoing support from the Pride in Place Programme Team

If you would like to participate, discuss how your organisation could get involved, or know of any other groups or services delivering in the area who might also be able to help, please let them know.  Please contact inclusive.economy@calderdale.gov.uk
