Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), Calipso, is launching its first public tender for the provision of SafeSpace Crisis Alternative Support.
Calipso tender for and manage public sector contracts on behalf of consortia of local voluntary and community organisations. It has been set up to enable Calderdale’s voluntary and community sector to respond to the emerging preference on the part of local commissioners to have fewer or single contracts with a consortia/supply chain of providers.
The proposed tender is for a SafeSpace across 7 days/evenings per week that will be available to anybody aged 16 years and above in Calderdale in emotional distress, regardless of a diagnosis of mental ill health.
The SafeSpace will deliver the following outcomes:
-
- More people are provided with prompt recovery-focused help and support when in emotional distress.
-
- Increased options for people requiring support including out-of-hours mental health crisis support in Calderdale.
-
- More people supported to identify what can help them when they are at risk of a crisis.
-
- More people supported to access information/support relevant to their personal circumstances.
-
- Potential reduction in demand for statutory health and social care services.
This provision will be delivered collaboratively, through a consortium of providers with a lead organisation to ensure the service is thorough in the Calderdale response to the mental health crisis.
It will develop close relationships with partners including, but not limited to:
-
- SafeSpace Steering Group
-
- Secondary mental health services including the Intensive Home Based Treatment Team and the Single Point of Access.
-
- Accident & Emergency.
-
- West Yorkshire Police.
-
- Yorkshire Ambulance Service.
-
- Social care.
-
- Local voluntary and community sector organisations.
-
- The local Safeguarding Adult Board.
-
- Participation in the development of an acute care pathway
- Work with Primary Care
It is crucial to the delivery that a robust rapport is established, primarily with Accident & Emergency and West Yorkshire Police, to guarantee solutions are provided to those in distress.
The SafeSpace must be inclusive, accessible and appropriate for use with protected or vulnerable groups, including service users, people with different impairments: cognitive, developmental, intellectual, mental, physical, sensory, or some combination of these, older people, and whose first language is not English.
Tenders should appropriately demonstrate how they will evidence these requirements will be met during the lifetime of the contract.
