Julie Robinson, VAC CEO, has issued a response to the recently published report by Durham University entitled ‘Local health and social wellbeing: The contribution of the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector in Yorkshire and Humber’.
Speaking on behalf of VAC and the VSI Alliance – of which VAC is one of six partners – Julie said:
This report demonstrates the wide breadth of work that the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector delivers, maximising the support available in our communities in complement to statutory provision. It showcases the strength, diversity and added value of the VCSE contribution to effective partnership working, addressing not just health inequalities but the wider determinants of health too.
The findings of the report are welcomed and extremely timely for the work here in Calderdale. With the development of a multi-agency Calderdale VCSE strategy to strengthen and champion the VCSE’s place in the local delivery landscape for their communities and the statutory partners their work supports, this report provide further evidence of the importance of the VCSE Sector now more than ever.
The West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership have also released a press release about the new report – West Yorkshire Partnership celebrates role of charities and the work of 14,000 organisations across the area.
