Become a Trustee

Join us to continue improving local lives in Calderdale & Kirklees!

Voluntary & Community (also known as VAC) are looking to continue building their board of trustees to reflect the diversity and expertise of the great communities we work with.

So, who are VAC?

In a nutshell, VAC is a Charity for Charities and the Voluntary and Community Sector providing services and initiatives to organisations across Calderdale and Kirklees.  Our vision is to promote positive social change to improve local lives.  To find out more about our work and ethos, please explore our website.

VAC Trustees

If we were to strip back our Trustee recruitment goals, we are looking for people.  Passionate people with an interest in the development & success of Voluntary & Community Sector. If you also have professional and/or lived knowledge or experience in the following areas that would be an added bonus:

  • Local Government
  • Estate/Property Development or Management
  • Health Background

We are looking for people who may be considering taking their first step in a Trustee role or may have been involved with trusteeships previously.

When considering a trustee role, it can be a tough decision to choose which great cause and organisation could best benefit from your time and knowledge.  By becoming one of our Trustees, you will not only be shaping the work of VAC but you will be supporting and championing the work of the Voluntary and Community Sector across the Calderdale and Kirklees landscape!

VAC + Membership

What's included?

You will receive a VAC Member welcome pack with useful information on getting the most out of your membership and a few extra treats!

Every member of VAC will be invited to our Annual General Meeting (AGM) and has voting rights for resolutions and proposals either in person or by proxy.

When you sign up to be a VAC Member, you will be assigned a Go-To Contact from the VAC team.

They will be your main point of contact for your membership, helping to answer questions and signposting you to the right place within VAC and/or our partnerships.

We want the VAC membership offer to be responsive to the needs of our members.  Member check ins keep us up to date on your organisation’s news and developments but also on any challenges or support gaps that may be affecting the VCSE sector.

The information we receive during our member check ins will highlight trends and challenges that we can then explore support and solutions for via our membership offer and partnerships with local providers and authorities.

Based on feedback, we wanted to give our members an opportunity to meet and get to know each other in an informal setting.  The Biannual VAC Member Social will give you a chance to network and socialise with other organisations who are Improving Local Lives.  It is also a perfect opportunity for any of your team to come and make connections with other member organisations across Calderdale and Kirklees.

As a VAC + Member, you will receive two free tickets for both our Spring and Autumn Member Socials.  Additional tickets will be at an affordable price per attendee to cover costs.

To support VAC members to feel connected and informed, we have created a unique Member Area on the VAC Website.

The online dashboard will keep you and your colleagues up to date on the latest member opportunities, training and news.

The Member Area also has a forum function, allowing VAC Member organisations to interact and support each other.

A quarterly newsletter to keep our members up to date on not only VAC Membership updates and opportunities but also specifically created content on topics of interest to the local voluntary, community and social enterprise sector.

The Bimonthly Member Network is for VAC Members to connect with other VAC Members!

A perfect opportunity to support one another, find out about other local services and explore new collaborative opportunities and partnerships with fellow VAC members.
