Halifax YMCA provide free school uniforms for many of the schools throughout Calderdale, and no referral is needed. They are open Monday 10am – 2pm, Thursday and Friday from 10am to 4pm, and Saturday from 10am to 12 noon.
Zarach provide children with a free ‘Zarach bed bundle’, which includes a brand-new Bed, Mattress, Duvet, Pillow, Bed Sheets, Pyjamas and Hygiene Kit. They take referrals from schools or organisations. For more information, visit their website.

In Calderdale, children are eligible for free school meals if their parents or guardians get certain support payments.
Free School Meals should be applied for even if the child is entitled to Universal Free School Meals. (In reception, Year 1 or 2).
The Healthy Holidays programme is for children from reception to year 11 who receive Free School meals. There are also some subsidised places for other specific groups of children.
It runs over Christmas, Easter and Summer School Holidays and aims to make sure children enjoy healthy and nutritious meals, whilst keeping a healthy level of physical activity.
Children who attend develop a greater understanding of food, nutrition and other health-related issues, whilst taking part in fun activities.
