Calderdale Methodist Circuit Job Vacancy

Calderdale Methodist Circuit have an exciting opportunity for someone with a vibrant Christian faith to make a real difference to the lives of those in Brighouse and the surrounding areas.

They are seeking to appoint a part-time Church Mission and Outreach Enabler to work as part of the Circuit Team. The person appointed will be primarily based at Brighouse Central Methodist Church but will also support other churches in the Lower Valley Cluster (which includes Clifton Methodist Church and Christ Church at Hipperholme), as well as the wider Circuit.

The successful candidate will have experience of a similar role in promoting, encouraging and enabling effective mission and evangelism. They will work with existing outreach activities and seek to identify new opportunities.


The work will include taking the initiative on leading and developing discipleship opportunities for a wide range of people, including those living on the margins of society and families with young children. The successful applicant will work in partnership with ministerial colleagues and lay volunteers.


The appointment requires an enhanced DBS disclosure and satisfactory references.


The appointment requires an understanding of the aims and work of the Methodist Church in Great Britain. An occupational requirement exists for the postholder to be a practicing Christian.

Hours: 25 hours per week worked flexibly, Sunday to Saturday, in agreement with the Line Manager, which will include some evening working. Actual days, start and finish times will be variable in accordance with the needs of the Employer. You will not be expected to work on more than five days in a calendar week.

Contract: Permanent

Rate of Pay: £17.35 per hour, with enrolment in the Circuit’s workplace pension scheme.

Location: Based at Brighouse Central Methodist Church, Commercial Street, Brighouse HD6 1AQ but also working in other churches in the Lower Valley Cluster.
