A month of celebrations 1st – 31st October 2025
This year’s theme for the International Day of Older People is, Building Belonging: Celebrating the power of our social connections.
Age Friendly Calderdale would like community and voluntary groups to get creative and host an activity or event that encourages people aged 50 plus to come together and do something new.
Grants of up to £400 are available for groups working with people aged 50 plus to organise a celebratory event or activity that is accessible to older people, their carers, family and friends.
Ideas for events and activities that promote social opportunities might include, arts workshops, cooking & baking, crafting, movement & dance, music & singing, sports, theatre, writing and poetry – the list goes on!
The deadline for applications is 5pm on Monday the 5th September 2025 and will be chosen by a panel based upon the following 4 outcomes:
- Provide an inclusive event or activity that is accessible to older people, their carers, family and friends. (Events and activities must be new/additional to any existing offer).
- Promote and celebrate positive images of older people ageing well.
- Promote and increase connection and the opportunity for ongoing social participation amongst older people.
- Celebrate the part older people play in communities across Calderdale.
Application packs are available to download here.
Successful applicants will be notified the week of 15th September 2025.
