Communities Pulling Together
Urban Community Development Consortium
The Urban Community Development Consortium is a partnership project which is part funded by the European Commission via the Urban2 Programme managed by Action Halifax. The consortium is made up of the following, Voluntary Action Calderdale (VAC), Action Halifax, Halifax Opportunities Trust, North Halifax Partnership, Park Community Initiative and the Ovenden & Mixenden Initiatives.
The project offers a range of capacity building, training, organisational development and funding support to voluntary and community groups in the Urban area of Halifax. The project also supports volunteers by helping them find suitable placements and mentoring volunteers in their roles. Similarly, if you are looking for volunteers for your group, the team can support you with recruitment and volunteering practices & policies.
The project employs a team of workers, which includes three Organisational Development Officers and a Team Leader. The team works on an outreach basis and each worker covers a specific area (see contact details below). In addition to this, the team also holds outreach clinics 12 times per year, which are rotated around the Urban area. Please contact the team for further details.
A training programme is delivered on a three-monthly basis offering one day accredited and non-accredited workshops. The project also delivers tailor-made training to suit the individual needs of your group. You can contact Helen Brewster for further information on training, and/or click here
